For this programme, we will deliver the following activities, aimed at empowering and supporting Black young people in school; challenging and responding to racism and promoting race equality and cultural diversity within the local education system.

1) Young Black Families’ Ambassadors

• 5 Black young people (Post-16, students or school-age) to take on the role of Young BFESG Ambassadors to work with Black Families Education Support Group in schools in relation to promoting race equality and cultural diversity in schools.

2) Conversations & Conversation Workshops

• To plan, initiate and facilitate conversations and Conversation Workshops with…
• 10x schools to raise awareness and further understanding of the experiences of Black students in schools, the role of race within the education system and identify opportunities for change.

3) Consultation for Change

• To carry out consultation workshop discussions with…
• Black students and families to support them to explore and engage with issues of racism, ethnicity, identity and diversity and highlight their views on the key issues and areas that should be addressed within their school in relation to race equality.
• To work with all students, e-teams and staff to champion race equality, diversity and inclusion across all equalities areas.

4) Commitment for Change

Building on the conversations and consultations within schools the project will support schools to identify specific areas for change and develop an action plan to implement these changes.

The project will support schools with the ongoing implementation of the action plan through advice, resources and further training.
