There seems to be a growing sense of confusion about this month, which is aimed at celebrating Black culture and achievement. It is a part of diversifying representation in the school curriculum and environment. Though we seem to be running into problems of late.
- What should it be called?
- Which communities and groups is it supposed to be about?
- How do we do something different from last year?
- How to do it in way that does not make pupils feel worse, awkward or uncomfortable?
- Should it be embedded and not just a month?
- Did the school do anything at all or enough Black History month?
The debate can go on.
